New Acura MDX SUV
Most SUVs run into performance limitations inherited from clumsy trucks. Because the 2008 2009 Acura MDX was created fresh, designed from the ground up, it has a unique advantage. It can sidestep the hereditary shortcomings of conventional SUVs. The MDX is nimble and precise, endowed with the kind of handling and performance advantages that make Acura sedans and coupes so fun to drive.
The 3.5-liter SOHC V-6 engine in the MDX is the source of its performance. Its Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTECT) system is unique among SUVs. VTEC changes the very character of the engine as rpms change, allowing the same engine to produce a class-leading 240 hp at higher rpm while churning out impressive torque that comes on strong at low rpms and peaks at 245 lbs.-ft. The upshot is, you can accelerate quickly to highway speeds with exhilarating responsiveness. With smoothness you might not expect in an SUV. Yet in spite of all its power, the MDX is one of the first SUVs to be offered as an ultra-low emissions vehicle (ULEV) for all 50 states.
