2008 Acura

Featuring Acura CL - Under the hood of the 3.2 CL and 3.2 CL Type S resides a potent, sophisticated and efficient powerplant, which not only gives the CL its edge, but also its attitude. The CL's advanced 24-valve SOHC 3.2-liter V-6 engine benefits from Acura's pioneering Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTECT) system, first employed in the NSX. The VTEC system automatically changes valve timing and lift in order to maximize low-end torque and high-end horsepower, thereby optimizing the CL's performance in driving situations ranging from stoplight pull-aways to highway passing. In addition, the 3.2 CL and 3.2 CL Type S feature Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) and a Direct Ignition System. PGM-FI precisely manages fuel delivery to maintain maximum engine efficiency, while the Direct Ignition System works to deliver more accurate and consistent spark timing under all operating conditions. The 3.2 CL generates 225 hp-matching or surpassing more costly European competitors; and the 3.2 CL Type S capitalizes on its higher compression ratio and two-stage induction system to supply a hefty 260 hp.
